1) Develop a sense of humanity: Life’s not always about you and your needs and wants. People share a fate in that everyone is working to make the most of the time they have, whether that expresses in their private lives or professional lives. Open up, observe others! Are you really so different?
2) Commit unconditionally: You will only put forth your best effort and bare the heaviest burdens for goals that are well worth it, and a vision that is well conceived. Once you have found what these goals are and what that vision consists of, commit unconditionally. It is the one thing that keeps the red wood tree growing through the seasons and it will get you to your sunny spot as well.
3) Celebrate successes: Every day has some successes. Whether you allowed someone in line to pay his coffee before you paid yours, or you succeeded in being a bit less anxious when Bill down the hall received laureates for an idea you sparked. Celebrate your successes and keep enjoying your journey. Less anxious = more quality of life. Remember that.

Ask yourself if you are curious enough!
In a world that is changing as fast as ours, there are two ways of dealing intelligently with your challenges:
1. By generating new ideas
Think outside of the box. The box here is your cubicle, your department, your company, your family, your nationality, your culture, your race, your gender, your religion, etc.
Drop it for a moment and allow yourself to see the world with fresh eyes. Remember what it felt like when you did not need someone to tell you what to think or how to behave. But you needed someone to show you how to come up with your own insights through naked observation and experimentation.
2. By relying on timeless wisdom
In a changing world, timeless wisdom still applies. Even chaos is governed by a few basic laws – like impermanence and change, causality and a general unpredictability. All calling for the development of emotional intelligence, clarity, skillfulness, courage and increased self-awareness.
Are you curious enough to become well trained.

What is the difference between leadership and management?
One of the best quotes I have read on the subject goes like this:
“Management is showing how to climb the ladder. Leadership is knowing which wall to lean it on.”
As a leader you need to know where you are going. And if you want to keep people engaged, you better have a good reason for why you are going there too.
One of the most frustrating experiences for a leader is when you loose faith in your own direction and vision, or the vision you are selling to your team and employees.
Maybe you have gained new insights that won’t let you go back to business as usual, maybe you have gained a deeper understanding about what actually is possible for you as a leader.
Either way, how can you stop pretending? How can you realign yourself with your current understanding? How do you make the shift?
Embracing that challenge is the difference between leadership and management.
Here is one small step you can do today:
Put an end to denial. Acknowledge to yourself if things need to change, even if you don’t yet know how to change them. Acknowledging what is self evident relieves you of the burden of secrecy – if only in front of yourself. It also opens up your mind to become creative in finding possible solutions that you cannot yet fathom. Admitting you have the question is the first step to finding the answer.
